Medelec Switchgear Ltd. is a joint venture company set up on the 25th October 1977 as an assembly plant for distribution switchgear and transformers under licence from GEC of England.
Medelec has since then developed into a fully fledged manufacturing concern having its own design of 11kV switchgear, compact and package sub-stations, mobile sub-stations, control and protection panels and digital control systems for sub-station automation. All of Medelec products are designed and tested to current international standards.
Furthermore, Medelec undertakes turnkey projects in which it supplies, erects and commissions complete sub-stations incorporating the above-mentioned products together with others from reputable manufacturers such as, prefabricated housings, power transformers, auxiliary supplies equipment, earthing and safety equipment.
Medelec is an accredited supplier of electrical equipment to the Libyan electricity sector and has been awarded several large contracts for the supply of 11kV sub-stations and major turnkey projects for the supply, erection and commissioning of 30/11kV sub-stations. The company is also a supplier of the electrical distribution equipment in Malta and to international contractors. Other satisfied clients are from Dubai, Yemen, Jordan and Tunisia.
Medelec is constantly developing new products and looking for new markets. It welcomes enquiries for any type of electrical distribution and associated equipment.
