Medelec Switchgear Ltd. manufactures and supplies mobile substations in two basic versions namely:
- 30kV/11kV
- 66kV/11kV
rated 5 or 10 MVA
A typical 5MVA mobile type 30kV/11kV substation includes the following:
- One metal structure c/w 30kV insulators for incoming 30 kV lines
- Three single phase 30kV surge arrestors
- 3 single phase 30/0.11 kV, low oil volume outdoor type instrument voltage transformer output 100VA per phase class 1 for operation of voltmeter
- One 30kV outdoor, triple pole, metal clad, vacuum circuit breaker.
- One indoor combined control and relay panel, complete with control and protection equipment for the 30kV circuit breaker.
- One outdoor type 30/11kV 5MVA power transformer c/w on load tap changer and AVR panel
- One 4-panel 11kV switchboard single busbar, with vacuum circuit breakers with 630A busbars
- One 11kV triple pole, indoor/outdoor, transformer fuse/circuit breaker switch, complete with busbar cable box for connection of incoming 11kV cables.
- One 25kVA, oil insulated, indoor type 11kV/380V auxiliary transformer
- One 30Ahr, 110VDC battery/charger unit
The 30kV control and relay panels, 11kV switchboard, AVR panel and battery unit are installed inside a metal housing including internal lighting and extractor fan.
The complete housing, power transformer, 30kV circuit breaker, transformer switch, auxiliary transformer, 30kV instrument voltage transformer and surge arrestors are installed on a mobile low loader trailer for transport and relocation of compete substation.
Mobile sub-stations are supplied assembled, complete with all equipment supports and connections ready for connection of incoming 30kV or 66kV cables and outgoing 11kV cables.
